The lion alcolmeter® SD-400 uses the Lion fuel cell sensor, so the reading is unlikely to be affected by anything that occurs naturally on the subject’s breath.
The lion alcolmeter® SD-400 has been used extensively by Police Forces around the world, for both screening and evidential testing processes.
The operator switches the instrument on, then attaches a new mouthpiece to the sampling port. He or she then instructs the subject to blow through it until the sample is taken. A short time later their alcohol level is shown on the clear, easy-to-read display: this is illuminated, for use at night.
When the reading has been taken, the operator removes and discards the mouthpiece. After a short delay the instrument is ready to use again on the next subject, as required. The result of the last test can be recalled to the display, if required.
Each breath alcohol reading is also stored securely in memory with date and time.
The instrument should be checked with an alcohol standard at regular intervals, and recalibrated if required. The user may do this using an AlcoCal® product; or, alternatively, contact Lion to arrange for a calibration at the Lion Laboratories Ltd facility or contact your country distributor for local support.
A Printer Kit [printer plus carry case] is also available optionally for use with this instrument. This generates a permanent record of each test.
